SCRATCH BOARD

Scratchboard is a medium I also enjoy very much as it allows me to work with positive and negative images. Usually, animals with detailed fur emerge from this medium. The light spaces carved out only allow the viewer to see the level of detail that is not left in total or half-darkness. It is exciting and yet also a bit risky. One or two strokes in the wrong place or being too heavy handed will send a piece into the trash.

Most of my earlier scratchboard pieces have to do with safari animals. Lately I have been exploring my second love, and that is music.  I am always astounded by the fact that musical notation is basically a universal language with a few exceptions.  That means that music unites us, rather than divides us.  My Music Collection pays homage to that.
